August 30 Fishing Report

Inshore: The day time Striped Bass Bite Continues to Produce Nice fish between 30 and 45 pounds drifting eels. The Flood tide has been the hot tide during the day, with little action on the ebb tide. Big Black Sea Bass and Fluke continue to put up great numbers as we've been loading the boat after the Striper bite is done.
Cod Fishing was Hot on Saturday. Only 2 throw backs all day. Most of the fish were in the 15 pound range as we managed a final tally of 27 Cod and a pile of Sea bass with a Monkfish Bonus added in!

Offshore: All 3 boats have been offshore this week, 2 of them daily. The Mahi Action is off the charts with big bulls up to 25 pounds taken. Mondays trip bagged 41 Mahi, Tuesdays trip grabbed 34 Mahi and some Triggers.
Knot Reel Teeth Ventured out to Atlantis canyon and Grabbed 4 nice Yellowfin, a bunch of mahi and a wahoo. Big Game went back the next day and followed suit with $ Beautiful Yellowfin, a 300 pound Blue Marlin, a bunch of Mahi and a couple of Tile Fish.
Big Game and Big Game II got into some amazing Bluefin action on Sunday! Big Game II grabbed a White Marlin on the troll early morning and jigged up 16 Bluefin Tuna all on light spinning gear which were all released but 2.
Big Game Fished right beside and did the same. Bagged 2 nice Bluefin on the troll in the morning and jigged up 9 more which we released to round out the day. The Offshore fishing is hot! We have plenty of open days in the fall to get out and grab some world class fish! August 19 Fishing Report

Inshore:

The Striped Bass bite during the day has been lights out this past week! Big Game and Big Game II have been catching boat limits of fish between 30 and 48 pounds within a half hour and catch and releasing monster bass through the rest of the tide. Monster Sea Bass have moved into local reefs and rock piles and are automatic boat limits on every trip. Fluke has been decent. As long as you hit the tide right we've been doing ok on the Fluke but we've had to work for them. Moving around a lot to find the fish that want to chew.

Offshore:

The Bluefin Tuna bite is on, and it's close to home. Only 28 miles from Point Judith, which means less travel time and more time fishing! The fish are mixed in with Humpbacks, Finbacks, Porpoise and sharks feeding on some of the most concentrated schools of sand eels we've seen, which makes for a scene out of National Geographic! Most of our hookups have come early morning either on Green Machine Spreader bars, Joe Shutes with Ballyhoo and jigging RonZ's
Most of the fish are 50-100 pounds with some definite monsters mixed in, We were tight on a fish for about 30 minutes which dumped the Spool 3 times on a Cabo 120 hooked to a RonZ and Our client said he could feel the other fish bumping the line through the battle before we broke the fish off on another tuna! No Joke! There are some serious fish mixed in the school! Small mahi have started to show on the pots in Coxes and South of Block Island. Bigger Mahi have been taken South in the Shipping Lanes and Fishtales.
We have open days August 28,29 and Plenty into September which is Prime Tuna Time. Call Captain Brian Bacon to book today at 401-243-7046 or visit our site at www.BigGameFishingRI.com

August 9 Fishing Report

Inshore: This past weeks trips produced some world class Striped Bass on both the day and night bite. Fish just shy of 50 pounds on every trip! The day trips produced some monster sea bass and beautiful Fluke to round out the trips after the bass bite.

Offshore: The Bluefin bite has been pretty consistent with each trip producing 2-4 fish 34-45 inches without having to run too far to get into the action. We had our first canyon trip this past week which yielded a few yellows, some big bull mahi and some small Bluefin we grabbed inside on the way home. We were also treated to an amazing show put on by a humpback whale about 20 yards from the boat. Open Dates still available in August Call Captain Brian Bacon to book today 401-243-7046 www.BigGameFishingRI.com
