July 24 Fishing Report

This past week has seen some of the best Striped Bass Fishing we have seen thus far in 2018! Day trips / Night trips with boat limits with monster Striped Bass up to 50 Pounds, all light tackle drifting eels. The inshore trips have been rounded out with nice big Black Sea Bass and Fluke!
The offshore action has been hot as well. Ryan and Chris on Knot Reel Teeth had a mixed bag of Bluefin Tuna mixed in with 150-200 pound fish. same trip, lost a huge Porbeagle boat side and the following day, harpooned an 90 inch Mako estimated around 300 pounds. With the dart and harpoon ball stuck in the fish, the mako sounded after it snapped the main line was never to be seen again with harpoon line and ball attached. If anyone finds a poly ball moving on its own offshore, grab it. There's a 300 pound Mako attached to it!
Pete and Shamus left for the Canyons on Thursday and boated 6 Big Eye Tuna and hooked an additional 8. The inshore Shark bite was lights out on Saturday with all quality fish. Brian and Chris landed 8 Makos and 1 Blue shark. We still have a handful of open days left. Call Captain Brian Bacon to book today at 401-243-7046 www.BigGameFishingRI.com

July 15 Fishing Report

This past week has been what we've been waiting for! The Big Bass have finally showed up and we have gotten fish daily up to 50 pounds! Monster Black Sea Bass have arrived as well with fish up to 5.5 pounds, all slammers! The Fluke bite has been decent with plenty of fish but only a handful of keeper fish. day and Night bass trips are getting boat limits and catch and releasing fish throughout the rest of the tide. Sea Bass have been taken on Diamond Jigs and squid baits.
Offshore: Early week, Captains Brian, Chris and Rich all had shark trips and caught over 40 Blue sharks combined and released 3 Makos up to 70 inches. The Bluefin are here and their 500-600 pound giants! We've been on them every day since Wednesday. Pete and Shamus were on a Fish for 2.5 hours and lost it just short of the boat. Captain Chris had 5 hookups with no joy. These fish are no joke and have been staying on the same structure for a week. 2 boats back on them today with hopefully a couple of these fish will be taking a ride back to Point Judith!

July 9 Fishing Report

The Past week has seen the bass bite on the SW Corner of Block Island finally started to turn on with bigger fish arriving on the reef and starting to feed on eels during the day as well as the night bite. Huge schools of mackerel were balled up at the North Rip of the Island all week which kept our customers busy loading up and then live lining the mackerel for bass. Sea Bass continues to get better each day with larger fish starting to show around 5 pounds. The Fluke bite remains consistent as long as the tide is moving. Early in the week, east grounds was the spot until the dogfish moved in.
On the offshore scene, The shark fishing has been very consistent this week with a couple makos released as well as a ton of Blue sharks.
The tuna bite is going to bust open any day now with signs of bait, whales and dolphin, it won't be long before the Bluefin are here. Big summer squid were taken on each of the offshore trips this week and live lined for sharks. The amount of bait and life offshore is amazing right now. Any day now for tuna!
