July 9 Fishing Report

The Past week has seen the bass bite on the SW Corner of Block Island finally started to turn on with bigger fish arriving on the reef and starting to feed on eels during the day as well as the night bite. Huge schools of mackerel were balled up at the North Rip of the Island all week which kept our customers busy loading up and then live lining the mackerel for bass. Sea Bass continues to get better each day with larger fish starting to show around 5 pounds. The Fluke bite remains consistent as long as the tide is moving. Early in the week, east grounds was the spot until the dogfish moved in.
On the offshore scene, The shark fishing has been very consistent this week with a couple makos released as well as a ton of Blue sharks.
The tuna bite is going to bust open any day now with signs of bait, whales and dolphin, it won't be long before the Bluefin are here. Big summer squid were taken on each of the offshore trips this week and live lined for sharks. The amount of bait and life offshore is amazing right now. Any day now for tuna!
